I'm not a loyal birdwatcher, but I do enjoy birds as photo subjects. I recently spent some time with a real birder in Rockport, Texas, learned quite a bit about bird migrations and habitats, and had the chance to go on an adventure with an expert. So here are a few of my favorite bird photos, old and new:
Here is an oyster catcher on the beach in Rockport, Texas
A pair of caracaras roosting in Rockport, TX
A peacock strutting in Charleston, SC.
A great egret along the water's edge in Rockport, TX
Dinner time for white pelicans, Rockport, TX
A goose at dawn, Mendon Ponds Park, Rochester, NY
A rosy spoonbill in a bird preserve, Rockport, TX
A turkey in full plumage - Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains
Flocks of spoonbills and pelicans all in a row
