October's Beauty in the Finger Lakes

There is nothing more spectacular than the beauty of New York and the Finger Lakes in October. The state parks are full of waterfalls and streams, trails, wildlife and foliage. Everywhere you look there is color and texture.  If  you ever get a chance to wander around upstate New York in October, come to the Finger Lakes!

Fantastic Fibers!

Sometimes it's fun to step outside my world and see what ignites the passion of others.  On a recent weekend I went to the Finger Lakes Fiber and Craft Fair in Hemlock, NY.  There I realized a whole world that I'm not a part of - those avid knitters, spinners, weavers, and shepherds.  These people raise the animals including sheep, llamas and alpacas, shear them, card the wool, dye it, spin it, knit it and sell their amazing work.   There were textures and colors, nimble fingers young and old, fine garments, antique and new equipment, bags of raw wool and fibers in various stages everywhere you turned.  Excitement was in the fresh country air!  As the weather turns cooler,  baskets of yarn will take center stage and wonderful things will be created.  This was my little glimpse into that world!

Look at the colors and textures!

Think of what could become of these skeins.

So what do you think?  Did I capture the colors and textures of the day?
